world's leading manufacturers of specialized equipment for the mining,

products are also available under the Cat® brand. The corporation includes over
480 units, which are located in 50 different states on all continents, with the
exception of Antarctica. The
company is headquartered in the USA.
The predecessor of
Caterpillar was Stockton Wheel Company, which was founded by the Holt brothers
back in 1883 in California. The company specialized in the production of
agricultural machinery. It was this company that began producing combine
harvesters back in 1886. And in 1904, the company developed and launched its
first profitable tracked tractor. It was offered under the name Caterpillar, which
translates from English as "caterpillar."
